If you are an inexperienced chess player who wants a good introduction to the game, I recommend Wikipedia's Chess Strategy and Tactics. The article provides the essential concepts for chess with good introductory comments on strategy and tactics. Enjoy!
Oh, BTW... I'm an amateur chess player and admittedly not the best but is it just me or is the OS X Chess game hard to beat?
For many people, the Israeli keyboard is not very intuitive. Those that have grown accustomed to the Michigan-Claremont Encoding Scheme used in the SP fonts, e.g. SPTiberian, will likely find the Israeli keyboard a radical departure. I'm one of those people and as such, I created a keyboard layout for Hebrew Unicode on the MC Encoding Scheme. Try it out: keyboard.zip. This keyboard will allow you to use SBL Hebrew or Ezra SIL using the same keys you would use with SPTiberian. The keyboard is for use with Windows XP.
Disclaimer: This works on my computer but I make no guarantees.
Here's a useful Accordance search tip I learnt with some help from Helen Brown:
(Step 1) Define a search range, e.g. 2Chr 34-35, the Josiah Narrative in Chronicles.
(Step 2) Enter *@-[particle], which appears as [particle]-@* with a Hebrew text like BHS-W4 or HMT-T, into the search box and conduct the word search. This search must be conducted in a grammatically tagged text.
(Step 3) Use the details window to see all the key words for the range you searched, including the relative frequency of these words in the entire text you've chosen to conduct the search in.
This search is a great way to discover the key words, or leit-wörter as biblical scholars often call them, for any biblical passage. It helps you to determine the structure of the passage and its particular focus (or focii). This is something that simply can not be done in Logos, BibleWorks, GramCord, or any other program. Enjoy!
CMUG, the Christian Macintosh Users Group, is another recommended website for Bible software users, particularly Accordance users. The website is published by Dave Lang, a member of the Accordance development team, and includes articles on Bible software, general Mac computing, and biblical interpretation. Enjoy!
I've updated The Bible Collection page at Reel Bible to reflect the three New Testament movies in the series: Jesus: The Epic Mini-Series, St. Paul, and The Apocalypse. Fans of the series will no doubt want to check this out. The Apocalypse stars the legendary Richard Harris as John!
I just wanted to call special attention to a book in the bookstore @ anduril.ca because it's co-authored by my brother-in-law, Paul. It's called Religionships and I'd strongly recommend it. One of the main strengths of the book is the way in which the problem of religion is discussed. Pablo and PeteyBoy (as I know them) have written a book that helps clarify the role religion should (and shouldn't) play in our relationship with God and others.
